Aromatherapy is the practice of using pure essential oils, derived
from plants, for the well-being, of body mind and soul.
Essential oils have been found to provide both psychological
and physical benefits when used correctly and safely.
Offering us a “natural” way of caring for our health,
modern medicine is spectacularly successful in many ways,
but increasing numbers of people feel that they would
like to know about ways of preventing illness in the first
place.
In contrast, complementary medicine, of which aromatherapy
forms a part, offers a way of being treated holistically
as a whole being in whom there are many aspects of a disease
or illness and for whom individually tailored treatment
is required. It can be applied with massage, in the bath,
in the air, and in hair care.

Aromatherapy can be used for treatments from acne and other skin problems such
as eczema, dry, chapped or oily, insect bites, athletes'
feet and other fungal infections. Respiratory ailments
such as sinusitis, bronchitis, coughs, sore throats, the
common cold, the 'flu', other types of nasal congestion
which may be due to allergies. Everyone benefits from
the use of essential oils from babies to adults, even
the family pet. Great for deodorizing and disinfecting.
The aroma has an emotional effect on everyone.
From stress relief to being uplifting for fatigue relief;
anti depression - for grief it can have a calming and
relaxing effect especially for those troubled with insomnia; it
can give relief to those troubled with PMS, it can aid
in digestion and many more. Massage is the fastest way
of getting the oils absorbed into your body. The reason
that massages works so well is that it works on 2 of the
5 senses simultaneously, the tactile sense and the sense
of smell. When calming and relaxing music is played the
sense of hearing is added to the mix, making it a good
combination for mind body and soul. And the more regularly
you have a massage the better you will feel and the less
stressed you will be.
Aromatherapy oils can be
blended for specific problems. We are all different with
different problems and it is always good to carry on with
your treatment at home. Your oil is mixed for you personally.
Please see my blending
list to see but a few.

Massage during pregnancy can be
extremely helpful, especially in the last few months,
when the body begins to feel strain and heavy. Massage
to the neck and shoulders can help to alleviate
muscular tension and anxiety. Lower back pain is
a common problem, as are feelings of physical tiredness
and nervous exhaustion, especially toward the end
of pregnancy. Massage to the back can help to ease
aches and pains, and help revitalize the whole body.
Gentle massage to feet, ankles and legs can help
to overcome swelling when performed regularly. |
